A short introduction ...
Jarno Schurgers is a self-taught photographer and is specialized in extreme sports photography. Since 1995 he’s been an active snowboarder, skateboarder and motocrosser. These sports have created a profound passion and inspiration to capture the vibe and emotion in that decisive moment.
When did you first become interested in photography?
It all just started with a beer.
Are you self-taught or did you get yourself some education?
I took a quick 6 lesson course, figured out all the buttons on my camera and from that point on I just started shooting.
What was your first camera and gig?
When I started photographing in 2005 I bought a Nikon D50 with its kit lens. Some years later I had my first gig 'Powderquest in the Andes' in Chile. We went in search for the ultimate hot springs and backcountry powder. With these amounts of snow and steam I had luckely switched to a Nikon D200 and a new raincoat.
Most fun shooting?
Extremely hot bikini models and fresh backcountry powder kickers.
What’s your set up?
My Nikon D3, 16mm f2.8 fisheye, 24-70mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4, 70-200mm f2.8, 2 SB-800 Speedlights, 2 Elinchrom Ranger Quadra A flash battery packs.
Where do you see your career taking you?
Hopefully I will be working as a part-time circus artist in the near future to collect enough money to buy a Hasselblad H4D-40.
Final words?
One Life Live It.
